One of my favorite places in the world has been on fire - and the historic buildings nearly burned down - because of an abandoned campfire. Twin Lakes/Interlaken Trail/CO Trail and CDT are special in every season and every type of weather. As a person from Arizona, I don’t understand the need for campfires, and in fact do not think that fires should be allowed in the backcountry at all. Smelling fire when backpacking fills me with terror, and I wonder what the animals are thinking. Great job to all the #wildkeepers out there who did trash pickups in February. I love the theme this month because being pregnant and not being able to walk or hike very easily has made me realize how important getting outside is for my mental health. Even though I can’t bend down very easily to pick up trash right now 😂, I love being part of a community that is all about keeping our natural places trash-free. Permits went up and sold out yesterday! Here is a throwback to August 2022 Pictures from last March’s trip to Moab - sad not to get out there this spring. I miss it so much! I am here in third trimester of pregnancy. Very grateful but it is very hard. I am used to walking a lot for exercise and mental health and getting winded and exhausted and in pain very quickly these days. My back is starting to hurt with the extra weight. I know someday soon I’ll be taking little girl to these places and can’t wait for her to get here. It’s definitely tough not doing the typical traveling and hiking I have become accustomed to working into my life. Going outside at all is a big deal these days 😂. Exercise helps but it’s also tiring and gets more and more difficult as my balance and body changes. If you think pregnancy is hard but it’s kind of taboo to talk about since we pregnant people are supposed to be grateful and sunshiney 24/7 I feel you! Took the Winter Park train @amtrak again! It’s such a gorgeous journey. Since I’m pregnant, we weren’t doing any ski or related activities but there’s lots to do: PNW vibes A little PNW trip visiting friends - they got the arctic freeze too but we got in some waterfall viewing before retreating inside mostly 😂 🌲. Last airplane trip and likely last overnight before baby, as I am now 6 months pregnant.
